Couponing Tips I've Learned

For couponers these are the things you need to know about!

1) Get a subscription to ALL YOU Magazine. It is worth it! This magazine is sold at Wal-Mart and comes with all kinds of vaulable coupons in it.

2) Buy at least 1 Sunday paper, I buy 2.

3) Find a recycle center near you to raid their coupon inserts.

4) Check online blogs daily or at least a few times a week. Blogs such as the krazy coupon lady or Totally Target. To the right of my blogs you'll find links that lead you to these places.

5) Print coupons at home. You can go to various websites such as Target.com or most manufacture websites and print off coupons from those sites. You can also check coupons.com and those coupon blogs will have links on them to where you can go to print out certain coupons.

6) Be prepared. When you go to the store, make sure you have the coupons you want to use in an envelope, paper clipped together something, so that it will be easier to get them at the check out. Also making a list of what you need with a note to the side $1.00 off will let you know how much your getting off of that product incase you don't know how much the store costs for that product, so when you go and look you will be able to tell whether it's worth it or not.

7)Keep up with your local deals. Every week different stores changes the prices on their items. They put out different sales each week. Walgreens and Target have a weekly flyer that you can get at the front of the store, in Target it's buy the return center. It tell's you what's on sale that week. Usually it doesn't list everything that's on sale, they just highlight things that are. So you may find more deals throughout the store as you shop not mentioned in the weekly ad.

8) Clip, Clip, Clip. The more coupons you get the more clipping you will be doing. It's best to have a system so you don't want to pull your hair out when your done, or near done! So like for instance, sort your piles of insert with like inserts, so you can clip the things that are alike. Then move to another insert once you get the first stack of like inserts clipped. It takes time and patience, 2 things I don't always have lots of.

9) Know when your body is telling you to STOP! You can push yourself over the edge couponing. Really you can! I know! I was clipping coupons till my back and legs were sore and I was ready to pull my hair out and scream. It's best to do what you know you can do and not push yourself too far. Couponing can be a chore, so make sure you have time for it when you sit down to do it. Cause you can watch the hours fly by!

10) Last, but not least. Learn when enough is enough. You can have so many coupons on the same thing and end up buying 10 of the same item because you have such great coupons for that item. Stock piles are great. But in reality there comes a time to stop. If your overflowing with BBQ cause there only 42 cents right now at certain places, sometimes it's just best to let a coupon go. I know extreme couponers would frown on that. But I really don't see the point in having 20 bottles of BBQ! There are some things differing from person to person like shampoo and conditioner, lotion, soap, or shower gel that it seems like you can never have enough of these. I like to keep my cabinets full of as many of these as possible, because we go through them fast. Just so the items are not going to go to waste, also you can donate excess items to charities and local shelters. I just don't see any good sense coming out of having thousands of toothpaste bottles, or BBQ, sometimes enough is enough!

My Couponing Habits!!

So here are some things I do while couponing.

~Every Sunday, (My body willing) I go to Walgreens, buy at least 2 papers if not more and grab the newest weekly ad. I then buy what things I've come prepared to buy that day. Then go to Target grab their newest weekly ad and buy what things I have prepared to get there.

~I research online, There are a lot of couponing blogs out there. So I go to my favorite ones and look at them throughout the week to see new deals.

~Sunday afternoon/night when I cutting out the new coupons and putting them in my coupon book (which won't even shut now cause it's overflowing with coupons!)

~I think of more ways to get coupons, like other people will give me their coupon inserts from their Sunday papers, I will print some coupons out online, I will go to different brands website and request coupons, signup for freebies, etc.

~Every night I think about different ways to save, I look through the coupons I have, the new weekly ad's I have and try to think how I can get something so cheap or even free!! For me it takes a lot of brain power, cause I was never good in math, and trying to figure all that up is challenging. Not to mention when I don't feel good (which is everyday) I just do the best I can and try to get what I can done on my couponing research and then when I find great deals I go to the stores and get them.

New Deals I Scored!!

So today I went to several different stores. I don't have a store in my area that has the customer loyalty cards, so I end up going to different stores to save on money. So I went to Walgreens, Target, and Walmart. Here's what I got.

Walgreens:

2 Purpose Cleansers bogo half off plus I had 2 $2.00 off coupons so I ended up getting one for free and a dollar off the other. Since my walgreens has them for $5.99 each I only paid $4.99 for 2.

Wonka Easter Egg, I almost didn't see this, it was stuck with some other odd and ends stuff on sale, and it was only $1.17 Yeah!!

Walmart:

2 Hormel Kids Complete Meals, I had 2 $1.00 off coupons so I paid 68 cents for each of them.

Target:

The best deals I got at Target, the cashier even said that's impressive when I checked out, I'm so proud, my couponing is starting to pay off! Whoo Hoooo!!!

2 Trial sizes of Aquafresh Extreme Clean Toothpaste Had 2 $1.00 off coupons, since they were 97 cents each I got them for free, and the cashier didn't adjust the price down to the 97 cents, so I got the 3 cents overage on each of them!!!!

Sally Hansen Clear Top Coat Polish had 2 $1.00 off coupons, one Target, one Manufactors, so I only paid 98 cents.

Zantac 24 count, I had 2 coupons one Target coupon for $2.00 off, then I had a Manufactors for $5.00 off so I only paid 40 cents. (I normally use Prilosec, but 40 cents to pay isn't a bad deal at all!!!)

Then on the clearance side I found these awesome deals!

I bought 2 Betty Crocker Scooby Doo Fruit Snacks for 44 cents each, they were on sale for that.

I found a 360 degree Colgate toothbrush on sale for $2.44 I had a $1.00 off coupon so I only had to pay $1.44 and it came with a bonus trial size toothpaste!!

I found a burts bees lotion on sale for $3.48 I had a $1.00 off coupon so I paid $2.48 and it also came with a bonus trial sized toothpaste!!

Great deals!! I am slowly but surely working up to extreme couponing like they do on TLC!!!! Thanks all!

Couponing Can Be Fun!!!!!

Extreme Couponing on TLC has made me think of ways to save on things I buy. So far I can't say I'm an extreme couponer, but I have scored some good deals.

At Walgreens:

They have the Tyenlol Precise items for $3.00 off in their monthly coupon book, plus there's a manufacturer coupon for $5.00 off making it free, with also making 3 cents on it.

2 for 7 on oral b toothbrush and crest toothpaste, plus $1.00 register rewards when you buy. Plus manufacturer coupon for $1.50 off oral b toothbrush and $1.50 off crest toothpaste, it comes out to only $3.00 for both, like buy on get one free.

Noxzema Razor four pack for $3.99, plus you get a $3.00 register reward, plus minus the manufacturer coupon for $2.00 off and you it free, plus make $1.00.

Bayer Aspirin Walgreens coupon for $1.00 off, plus manufacturer coupon for a $1.00 with a total of $2.00 off, the smallest size was $3.00, so I only had to pay $1.00.

At Target:

Reach floss $1.00 coupon comes out free, also making 3 cents on it.

Buy 3 always pads get a free $5.00 target gift card, like buying 2 and getting one free.

Nivea body lotion on sale for $4.50, minus a $3.00 target coupon, then minus a $1.00 manufacturer coupon leaving the total cost at 50 cents.

Physician Formula Target coupon for $3.00 off any item, plus manufacturer coupon for $1.00 off any item, leaving $4.00 off any item. I found a primer on sale for $6.98 when it was normally $9.98, minus my $4.00 coupons and I only had to pay $2.98 for it.

Prilosec 42 count, at $24.95, minus $3.00 off Target coupon, minus $1.00 off manufacturer coupon, leaving the total to be $20.95. Hey, I have to buy it every month, might as well get some off, maybe not the best deal, but every dollar helps!
